Thirty-Fifth Anniversary Plans

Arrangements and plans are rapidly being completed for our 35th Anniversary Celebration and Alumni Day. If we can judge from the many letters received, there will be a big turn-out. If we are to make it the biggest in Omega history, we will need your help.

Enclosed is a reservation form for you to indicate what reservations you want made for you. Check it and mail in the enclosed envelope with your check or money order to the Chapter House. All reservations must be in by April 20th. We have to pay for rooms in advance and we want to order sufficient, but not top much food. In the past the active chapter has been caused considerable expense by alumni who have advised that they would attend various affairs yet failed to show up. The chapter absorbed the cost of the paid for rooms and the uneaten meals. Therefore, we are sure you will agree that the best and easiest way is to as for money for reservations in advance. So will you help the chapter in their plans by sending in both your reservation and your check.

Costs have been kept at a minimum for the weekend. We think you will agree that you can't have as inexpensive a weekend anywhere -- even at home.

Wives of Alumni will be very welcome to attend the Anniversary Celebration and special plans are being made for their entertainment. They will be welcome at all weekend affairs except the meeting of the Alumni Corporations. So bring the wife along -- she'll have a good time too.

The program for the weekend is shaping up as follows:

1:30 Meeting - Directors Alumni Corporation

Door Prizes - To add to the gaiety and interest of the affair, we would like to have a number of door prizes. Drawing will be held following the dinner Saturday night. Can you contribute something suitable for either men or women. Anything will be acceptable - something you sell or make - last year's bridge prizes or Christmas presents - or something you pick up. Either bring it with you .

Let's Go

Will you help us in our plans by encouraging your classmates and Omega friends to attend, bring your wife if you have one - send in your reservation - and send us a door prize. Here's our opportunity to make a grand Theta Chi weekend - let's do it.

Omega Fund

The response to our drive for funds has not been as good as we had hoped. Perhaps we were too optimistic. Perhaps as someone has suggested we gave the impression we wanted big contributions. We wanted any size contributions - but if anybody got the wrong impression, let's say right now that we would be overjoyed with an epidemic of $5.00 contributions. So to all those who haven't gotten around to sending us a check yet, we'll be happy to have your $5,00 - but let's get them in quick. This is our final appeal as we want to close the books. And if all those who haven't contributed will send $5.00, well go way over the top,

Alumni News

The Loudspeaker has been the means of locating many men whom we have not heard of in years.

  • Harry Girard is manager of the Sears Roebuck store at Greensburg,

  • Bill Young has two children and is living in Pittsburgh.

  • Bob Young is also in Pittsburgh. He also has a couple of youngsters.

  • Max Hofmann has finally been found. He is assistant manager of sales for the Structural and Plate Division of Carnegie Illinois Steel Corp. and is in the Pittsburgh office.

National Fraternity News

Region III held a very successful Assembly at Lafayette on March 26 with all eleven chapters represented. At the banquet 356 Theta Chis were in attendance - one of the biggest Theta Chi, gatherings in 93 years. Omega Chapter won the trophy for its singing. (You'll hear their choral group at the Anniversary Celebration - and it's worth listening to). Bucknell won the man mile trophy by nosing out Omega by only a few miles. One more man from Penn State (we had 26) and we'd have won this trophy also. Chapters were installed at U. of Buffalo on February 19, at Florida State U. on March 5, and W. Virginia U chapter was reactivated on April 2. We install at Duke U. on April 9, at Drake U. on April 23, at Bradley U. on April 30, at Nebraska Wesleyan on April 30, we reactivate at Nebraska U. on April 30, and install at Randolph-Macon on May 14. So by the end of this school year, we will have 90 Active Chapters and only 1 inactive chapter (unless something unforeseen happens.) We also have 2 colonies and 2 petitioning groups to be installed in the fall and have a number of petitions on hand, The general state of the National Fraternity is excellent. On April 10th we celebrate the 93rd anniversary of our founding.
