Chapter Participates in Re-Installation of Gamma Eta Chapter

Amidst the joys and thought provoking customs that come with our Chapter’s Initiation Week, 5 of our undergraduate brothers were able to participate in one of the most meaningful experiences that Theta Chi can offer. On April 10, 2010, Founders Day, brothers Daniel Cartwright, Nicholas Geyer, Jeremy Railing, Matthew Gendelman, and Gabriel Rodriguez ventured to Bucknell University to help the International Headquarters (IHQ) re-install the Gamma Eta Chapter that has traditionally been one of Theta Chi’s most successful chapters. In attendance were former Grand Chapter members, ‘Bo’ Tinnin the National Vice President, other IHQ staff, multiple other representatives from area Chapters such as Beta Sigma/Lehigh University, Epsilon Psi/New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Beta Nu/Case Western Reserve University to name a few.

The day started at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA; around 9:30 with Ritual preparations and assigning parts. Our undergraduate brothers helped Ritual by performing roles as the new Scholastikos, a scholarship-type chairman, and as guides. In addition, alumnus brother and Leadership and Education Consultant, Timothy Uhrich, was in attendance as Marshal for the ceremony. This particular Ritual was important because it served as a trial run for IHQ’s newest draft of a major overhaul of the Ritual. The new Ritual is slated for a hopeful unveiling at National Convention this summer in Orlando, FL. All in all, 45 new members, which included current Bucknell undergraduates and recent Alumni, were initiated, re-chartered, and installed as the now fully-fledged Gamma Eta Chapter.

Seeing, listening, and participating in this experience was a truly rewarding experience for our five undergraduate attendants. As a reward for attendance, all 5 of our brothers and every visiting brother has become an honorary member of Gamma Eta Chapter. Watching the birth of a new chapter is not only a rare occurrence, but significant proof that the brotherhood of Theta Chi is a family from our chapter to each and every other chapter that bears our name.
