2009 Theta Chi Golf Open Wrap-Up

This past Friday, May 1st, 23 brothers took to the links for the 28th annual Theta Chi Golf Open. For the 2nd year in a row, Bob Mausser won the illustrious Red Jacket and trophy with shooting an 84. The other big part of the weekend was rasing money for the Ken Oeschger Scholarship Fund, which I'm happy to say we rasied $755. Here are some of the highlights from the tournament and weekend.

  • Brother Gerry Kistler who most had not seem in 30 years showed up Saturday.
  • Bob Losinger shot a 38 on the front and was 5 over on the back through 16 holes, but alas did not qualify to win since he did not complete the round. Bob aka “Pig” was anything but as he stated “Hey I didn’t come down here to win a tournament. I came down here to hang with old friends”. Bob flew in from Minnesota just to attend.
  • Younger Brothers (55 and younger stayed at a house rented by Brother Cunningham on the beach at Sea Isle City, NJ
  • Older Brothers stayed at Brother Tom Raymond’s house located in Avalon, NJ
  • Younger guys hit the bars (Fred’s Saturday morning). Older guys probably played cards.
  • A Kentucky Derby get together happened Saturday night.

Happenings

  • 52 Year Old Brother Mooney almost broke the kitchen table dancing an “ape dance” to tunes much to the consternation of Brother Cunningham (thinking of the damage deposit)

  • Group of Brothers’s went to O’Donnell’s Pour House Friday night drinking shots of Kamikaze’s.
  • Breakfast was Bloody Marie’s at Fred’s Tavern Saturday morning

It's never too late to plan for next year's open, so mark your calendars for May 7th. We hope to see you next year.
