Ensuring the Future of Our Fraternity House through Tax Deductible Gifts
Dear Brothers,
We encourage ALL our members to speak-up and be heard. Congress is currently considering legislation called the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2007 (H.R.643/S.638). The Act would help re-write law allowing educational foundations to use tax-deductible charitable contributions to make grants to house corporations for the renovations of current facilities or the re-build of new ones. Passage of the Act has critical implications on the ability to fundraise for house improvements, meeting life-safety requirements, and solidifying the future of our prestigious and storied facilities.
On April 17, 2007, a large contingent of Greek leaders will go to Washington to lobby Congress to pass the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act. Tell your Congressman today!
How to be heard:
1. Log onto www.fraternalcaucus.org (website is no longer active), locate the "Get Involved" tab at the top and click on "Register with the CFC." It will only take about two minutes for you to provide the campaign with some basic information Greek leaders can use later in our efforts to target certain demographic groups for additional contacts.
2. After registering, go to the tab marked "Legislation" and then click on "Write Your Legislators."
3. Complete all the boxes and steps from there to automatically send an e-mail communication to both your Senators and Member of Congress. If you have a connection to other Members of Congress or Senators, you can write them, too.
Fraternally,
