We are pleased to announce that the 18th Annual B. Nelson Deranian Presidents Conference (DPC) for chapter and colony leaders will take place January 6-7, 2012, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The DPC is an excellent opportunity for current and future leaders to acquire the tools needed to improve their home chapters or colonies.

WHAT IS DPC ALL ABOUT?

This year, DPC participants will choose from one of three tracks: 1) Leadership, 2) Pledge Education, and 3) Recruitment.

Leadership Track: This is ideal for newly elected chapter/colony presidents and other elected officers who are transitioning into their new roles. It is a great way to kick off a new term in office! Participants will learn best practices for their respective offices and explore the nuances of leadership and chapter operations. Although the program is designed for elected officers, the Leadership Track can also be an essential development opportunity for younger members who may aspire to hold office in the future. Participants will depart with practical tools and specific strategies for inspiring positive change for your chapter.

Pledge Education Track: Few responsibilities are more important to the life and continuity of our fraternity than those of the Marshal. This track is designed to get you thinking about what you do as Marshal and to shake you loose from doing what has always been done. Together we will examine existing programs and ask if those programs achieve their goals and will explore how to deliver a new member education program that instills an understanding, appreciation, and attitude of what it means to be a brother of Theta Chi. Your most basic assumptions will be challenged, but you will leave with a renewed dedication to your position and an array of new ideas and strategies for being the best Marshal you can be.

Recruitment Track: The Recruitment Track is intended for current or newly elected recruitment and assistant recruitment chairmen, as well as aspiring recruitment chairmen. The Recruitment Track will help your chapter reach its full growth potential by teaching best practices regardless of chapter size or circumstances. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with some of Theta Chi’s recruitment experts. If the Recruitment Track sounds like a track you would be interested in attending, we ask that you bring your chapter’s recruitment plan, manual, binder, etc. so you can update it with new ideas.

WHEN IS DPC THIS YEAR?

January 6-7, 2012. We will start with registration on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and will conclude after the Closing Banquet on Saturday night. We recommend that you plan on leaving Sunday morning because your room is already paid for on Saturday night and we cannot give refunds. Participants should plan their travel accordingly in order to attend the entire event.

WHERE IS THIS YEAR’S CONFERENCE?

The conference will be held in Indianapolis at the Wyndham Indianapolis West, near the airport.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

The registration fee for the conference has been kept to a low $235 per person, due in part to funds allocated by the Grand Chapter and The Foundation Chapter. The registration fee includes a two-night stay (double occupancy with another conference attendee) at the Wyndham, all educational materials, a DPC t-shirt, airport shuttle, and all three meals on Saturday.
