FLICKS 2009 Wrap-Up
On Sunday, April 5th, 2009, the Omega chapter, led by its 11 new members, ran an ultimate frisbee philanthropic tournament called "FLICKS." The name was chosen to sound like the fall soccer tournament "K.I.C.K.S.," but the letters to FLICKS do not serve as an acronym for anything...at least not yet. The tournament raised money for PA CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a big brother/big sister program that gives foster children a voice in court. The event was organized and run by the Spring new member class, and was a great success. Twenty teams registered to play at a cost of $40 per team. We had food donated from CiCi's Pizza, Philly Pretzel Company, and CC Peppers. Over 200 people attended the event. There was a live DJ in new member Jason Downey, and everyone had a great time.
In the end, with the dedication of the Spring new member class mixed with much appreciated help from the Brothers, Theta Chi was able to raise $800 for PA CASA in Omega's first attempt at a Spring philanthropy. Not too shabby for a pledge project!
