OX: Why did you join Theta Chi?
Richard Jones: Great bunch of guys.
OX: What is your favorite Theta Chi memory or story?
RJ: E.T. Gifford---(Giffy) many stories-some unfit for pub. Trips to Poe Park or forest -- after hours snacks in kitchen.
OX: What kind of influence has the fraternity had on your life since graduation?
RJ: A lifetime of working with people.
OX: What is your nickname? How did you get it? Did anyone in particular give it to you?
RJ: Curby---I had a reputation for excessive drinking--ending up sitting on the curb in town.
OX: Did you live in the house? If so, who were your roommates? Tell us about a memorable time with them.
RJ: Louis C Brast. Great buddy.
The time he was asked for drivers license and he gave the Belfont cop a picture of his dog. Cop let us go. Amazing..
OX: Where did your pledge class go on their pledge bolt/trip? What brothers did you take? Any funny stories you can tell?
RJ: Don't recall---may be buried in my mind.
OX: With whom do you stay in contact? And is there anyone with whom you’ve lost touch that you would like to find?
RJ: Many years ago Tom Herrala. Recently John Coleman. After grad, Jim Coleman stayed in my home town and we partied many times.
OX: Tell us about your family. Have you married? Do you have children?
RJ: One daughter, three boys, six grandchildren. Wife Connie died in 1994--We married in 59 and lived together in State College. Remarried 2001 to Marcia- and two new step-granddaughters.
OX: What do you do for a living?
RJ:: Retired insurance agent, Now seasonal employee with CT DEP-heading up safe boating classes in Eastern Ct. Just received my Coast Guard License.
OX: What do you do with your free time?
RJ: On the boat and various charitable clubs.
OX: What are your goals for the next few years?
RJ: Operate a boat commercially.
OX: What organizations are you involved with in your community?
RJ: Officer with United States Power Squadron's, Manchester unit; Past President -twice- and officer of Bolton Lion's Club; Volunteer teacher with St of Ct DEP-Boating Safety.
