OX: Why did you join Theta Chi? 

John Mika: The friendships and great group of guys. My brothers Ed (Dickinson) and Eric (Delaware) are also Theta Chi.

OX: What is your favorite Theta Chi memory or story? 

JM: There are many, but one that comes to mind now is a few of us nursing Joe Kapetsky's terrible toothache through the night.

OX: What kind of influence has the fraternity had on your life since graduation? 

JM: Better interpersonal relationship skills, communication skills and a better tolerance for the diversities of others.

OX: What is your nickname? How did you get it? Did anyone in particular give it to you? 

JM: Jake. Still not sure how I got it.

OX: Did you live in the house? If so, who were your roommates? Tell us about a memorable time with them. 

JM: Bill Lundie, Dave Perkins, John Rarick and a single.

OX: Where did your pledge class go on their pledge bolt/trip? What brothers did you take? Any funny stories you can tell? 

JM: We enjoyed the festivities that Bucknell University had to offer instead of coming back to the chapter house in a timely matter.

OX: With whom do you stay in contact? And is there anyone with whom you’ve lost touch that you would like to find? 

JM: Not as many people as I should.

OX: Any brother you are looking to contact?

JM: None inparticular.

OX: What other activities or organizations were you involved with during your college days? 

JM: None.

OX: Tell us about your family. Have you married? Do you have children? 

JM: I married Elaine Hubick PSU BSRN 86. I have two great kids. Jake, go figure (10) and Allison (8).

OX: What do you do for a living? 

JM: I am a teacher for The Dept. of Justice/Federal Bureau of Prisons. I supplement that with coaching high school basketball.

OX: What hobbies do you enjoy? 

JM: Camp, canoe and hike.

OX: What are your goals for the next few years? 

JM: Complete 20 years of government service, complete my masters degree and then teach in one of the local high schools.

OX: What organizations are you involved with in your community? 

JM: My church, I teach Sunday School, the local Midget Football Association and Little League.
